Verdict:

Just a short one, guys:

As much as there is a tendency to denigrate sequels and cash grabs, especially after the first 3 films, this Ice Age sequel still has the Ice Age magic. Sure, it’s nowhere near the level of the first movie, but it so happened that, just before watching Collision Course, I watched one of those Jurassic Park sequels, and let me tell you that the air sat heavy on my chest after watching such a terrible faceless grey Hollywood action movie. Then along came Ice Age: Collision Course and cleared everything right up. What a delight it was to watch.

Yes, the story is witless and much of the dialogue is too. The whole thing feels like an episode of a sitcom, but the scene structure works, the animation is sharp and many of the slapstick jokes hit their mark. It is well-acted and just…cheerful, you know? Cheerful, like the way media should make you feel. It is not trying to be Hamlet, but more importantly, it is not some cynical soulless blockbuster. Just a nice lowbrow happy experience.
